Resumé

“So, I have to ask…
Where’d you get the name?”

This is usually the first question that I am asked when I meet someone new. My name is pronounced like “Bucky”. I’m not Asian and I’m not a red neck.

For the past 10 years, I have worked on my skills as a video, audio, and web development professional. Most recently I have developed a love for still photography. Trying to capture the truly special and unique moments in a single frame has proven to be quite challenging and rewarding.

I have come to realize that there are only a few certainties in this life. One is that if you treat others with respect they will most likely return the favor.

The other more recent idea is that a business does not have to be constantly focused on the almighty dollar to be successful.

When I provide services for people I will always strive to deliver a high-quality product regardless of the fee. I feel everyone deserves to have professional quality products, no matter what the budget. My personal goal will always be to go above and beyond what your personal expectations are.

About

The following are presentations that I designed and animated for various projects during my masters program. Many of the graphic elephants are original, but many were also acquired from outside sources and prepared to fit the needs of the presentation.

I have made several different formats available for your convenience: KeyNote, Quicktime, and HTML web based slides of each presentation are available. A PDF document of the business plan I wrote for my thesis is also available for your viewing needs.

NOTE: The QuickTime files are designed to work as a PowerPoint or KeyNote presentation would. Just use your right and left arrow keys to click back and forth through the various slides.

  • Cut Down Run in the Sun - August 5, 2010 - admin

I recently started running again. For those of you that do not know me very well, I used to be a pretty decent runner. Unfortunately for me, I am not in the fit condition that I was ten years ago. Over the years I’ve run several different races including 5k, 8k, 10k, 15k, and half marathon events. I’ve decided that it is time to go for the big kahuna! That’s right, I’m going to run a marathon and to aid me in my quest, I’ve joined the Indiana Running Company’s running group here in Bloomington, Indiana. I’ve been running with them now for just about two weeks and I have to say that I’m impressed with everyone. It’s easy to say that you are going to get out in 80-90 degree weather and run, but it is another thing to actually do it.

Yesterday, I met with four other members from the running group at the Bloomington Rails Trail to do what is known as a cut down or negative split distance run. Our goal was to run seven miles and to have each mile be progressively faster. I felt pretty strong the first 3.5 miles:

    Mile 1: 8:38
    Mile 2: 8:17
    Mile 3: 8:15
half way point: 29:14 (8:21 pace)

After that I fell apart. I was running pretty strong still for another half mile, but my legs started to feel like concrete and I got this incredible side cramp (probably lack of proper hydration), so the rest of the run took me about 40 minutes. It varied from jogging to walking. My pace for the second half of the run was about 11:25/mile.

So what is the point of all this? The point is to know your limitations and respect them. Push yourself. Don’t be afraid to go beyond the boundaries laid out for you, but respect yourself. Listen to your body, mind, and heart. If you do this then you can not go wrong. I would have loved to run the second half of my run in the same form of the first half, but sometimes we have to take a step back so that we can continue to move forward. Now that I know what my “current” limitations are, I will know how to adjust for my next cut down run. I also know that as I continue to train and lose weight that I will be more likely to maintain that 8:21/mile pace from yesterday. Regardless of the time, I was happy o finish and sometimes just completing the task is the most important thing.

    Here is our route:
